The Job:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 5-6 years of experience in fire alarm and firefighting systems, including expertise in AutoCAD, fire pump installation, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and management of fire suppression systems (CO2, FM200, Novec, Aerosol systems, Inergen systems), fire sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, deluge systems, and foam systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Fire Pump Installation & Maintenance:
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of fire pumps and associated mechanical systems.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of fire pump systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Coordinate with other teams to ensure fire pump systems meet relevant codes and regulations.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for fire pump systems.
Fire Suppression System Installation & Maintenance:
- Lead the installation and maintenance of various fire suppression systems, including CO2, FM200, Novec, Aerosol, Inergen, fire sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, deluge systems, and foam systems.
- Ensure fire suppression systems are designed, installed, and maintained according to industry standards and client specifications.
- Perform system testing, inspections, and repairs as required.
- Maintain accurate records of all installations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
Mechanical Design & AutoCAD:
- Create detailed mechanical design drawings using AutoCAD for fire protection and pump systems.
- Review and modify existing drawings to meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure proper integration of fire suppression systems with building infrastructure.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that each is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards.
- Prepare project timelines, budgets, and resource plans.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Track project progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all installations and maintenance activities comply with local fire safety codes, NFPA standards, civil defense requirements, and health and safety regulations.
- Conduct site surveys and inspections to ensure safety protocols are followed during installation and maintenance work.
- Provide technical support and training to staff on fire suppression systems and safety measures. 6. Travel Requirements:
- Travel for on-site installations, inspections, maintenance, and project management as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-6 years of experience in fire alarm and fire fighting systems, including fire pump and fire suppression installations.
- Experience in fire sprinkler systems, hydrant systems, deluge systems, and foam systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD for mechanical and fire protection system design.
- In-depth knowledge of fire suppression systems (CO2, FM200, Novec, Aerosol, Inergen) and fire pump systems.
- Basic knowledge of NFPA standards, local civil defense requirements, and health and safety rules.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic flow calculations and gas flow calculations.
- Strong project management skills, with experience managing budgets, timelines, and teams.
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring effective coordination and timely completion.
- Familiarity with local and international fire safety codes and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to travel across the country as required.
