Petroplan is recruiting for the position of HSE Manager and Supervisor - Maritime Construction on behalf of a Global Engineering Consultancy for a maritime civil construction project in Oman. The scope of the project entails the repair and reconstruction of the present marine infrastructure of a large desalination plant. The position will become available in May 2024, and has an 18-month program. HSE Manager and Supervisor - Maritime Construction Full time position. The key role of HSE (Health Safety and Environment) Manager and Supervisor - Maritime Construction is to keep a safe environment for workers during all stages of a project. Assisting the Resident Engineer (RE) and Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) by witnessing and conducting routine site inspections and ensuring the ongoing implementation of the project HSE management plan as applicable. These may include off-site inspections as well if required at manufacturing facilities.Key Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of Health and Safety policies, procedures, processes, and standards and alignment to applicable legislation.
• Manage all aspects of Environmental policies, procedures, processes, and standards and compliance to all relevant legislation.
• Ensure industry and global best practices are followed in all HSE elements and provide support to management teams and department managers including onboard vessels employed on the project.
• Continuous inspection of project site, to ensure a hazard-free environment.
• Assessment and approval of contractor safety plans, continuous throughout the project.
• Verification of tools and equipment to ensure good quality.
• Promoting safe practices on site.
• Creating and enforcing safety guidelines and programs.
• Carrying out drills and exercises on managing emergency situations.
• Conducting investigations on accidents.
• Verifying that all safety reports are submitted.
• Responding to workers' safety concerns.
• Manage all communications with Project Team, Contractors, and Clients in regards of safety.
• Arrange local authority and vessel flag state or classification society mandated evaluations of the site and vessels as applicable.
• Coordinate all issues regarding hazardous materials or waste.
• Assisting with the preparation of a construction health and safety plan with reference to existing shipboard safety management systems as applicable.
• Attending project planning meetings and collaborating with project team.
• Establishing and maintaining health and safety communication structures.
• Testing effectiveness of site and vessel emergency response plans.

• Relevant industry qualification such as a Nebosh International Certificate or equivalent as a minimum.
• 5 to 10 years in operational experience in the field of civil construction, maritime civil construction an advantage.
• Proficiency in marine construction safety management standards including ISM, IMCA and the Code of Safe Working Practices for Merchant Seamen etc.
• Training to implementer or auditor of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 advantageous.

• Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as Microsoft Office Suite and BIM360 software.
